Print Specifications
Everything you need to know to prepare print-ready files for AllegraSurrey
Document Size & Bleed
- Trim Size (Final Size): This is the finished size of your printed product after cutting. For example, a standard business card is 3.5″ x 2″.
- Bleed: Bleed is the area beyond the trim edge of your document. It ensures that your design or background color extends all the way to the edge without leaving a white border after trimming.
- Standard Bleed: Include a 0.125″ (1/8″) bleed on all sides of your document.
- Safe Area/Margin: Keep text and important elements at least 0.125″ inside the trim line to avoid them being cut off.
For example: Document size = 8.5″ x 11″
Document size with bleed = 8.75″ x 11.25″
Trim size: 8.5″ x 11″
Safe area: 8.25″ x 10.75″
Color Modes
- CMYK vs RGB
- CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black): This is the correct color mode for all print materials.
- RGB (Red, Green, Blue): This color mode is for digital screens and should be converted before printing. Files submitted in RGB will be automatically converted to CMYK, which may cause color shifts or undesired output
